This theme park that’s popularly being hailed as UK Disneyland will probably be called the London Resort. This state-of-the-art amusement park is in plans to be built across 110 acres of land on a former landfill site in the Swanscombe Peninsula in Dartford, Kent and will be open for visit by the year 2023. Although it’s a little far off from London, the London Resort will be only 17 minutes away from St Pancras Station, providing ease of access to many. Originally, the plan was for a Paramount Theme Park with rides and attractions inspired by Paramount films. In case you aren’t aware, Paramount Pictures is one of the ‘Big Six’ film companies of Hollywood that’s behind blockbusters like Titanic, Transformers, Shrek, Indiana Jones, Kung Fu Panda, Iron Man, Mission Impossible, Star Trek and more. Unfortunately, Paramount pulled out of the project in June 2017 leading to a massive let down for all theme park fans. But you’ve got nothing to worry about as the plan is back in motion and the London Resort is set to be completed in only five years’ time.

Although the new theme park is being called the UK Disneyland, it is not affiliated with Disney in any way. The multi-billion-pound project is being led by LRCH or London Resort Company Holdings along with its parent company, Kuwaiti European Holding Group or KEH which is also behind the development of this project. They are pushing the plans through the public consultation stage by working with the local authorities and landowners. The company is taking part in the promotion of the theme park as something that will be a ‘part of the London experience.’ The CEO of LRCH, Humphrey Percy has made statements that the massive theme park will provide employment to 33,000 people and benefit the economy. After the partnership with Paramount Pictures fell through, the company has brought the Intercontinental Hotel Group on board. They will build 3500 hotel rooms on the site that will accommodate visitors from around the world and provide a unique experience. The company is going to make an appeal to the Government for granting permission of the plans this year. After getting government approval, they are planning to start construction of the theme park in 2019.

The allotted budget for the ‘UK Disneyland’ theme park is a whopping 3.5 billion pounds. It is going to have over fifty rides and attractions that will provide unlimited entertainment to kids and grown-ups alike. It will also have retail outlets for shopping, numerous eateries, a hotel having 3500 rooms and also a nightclub for having fun. It will host sporting and musical events and also plans to build the largest indoor water park in Europe. That’s not all; there are plans for a 2000 seat theatre for screening films which is great news for film buffs. It is because of the unique amusement destination that London Resort plans to create that led to it being dubbed as the UK Disneyland, but it is going to be much more than that. It will bring to life iconic characters from books, films, telly and toys. The developers are expecting over 40,000 people to visit the theme park daily, so they have allotted space for parking 14,000 cars. Sale of full price tickets can be expected at 57 pounds.
