Mini & Youth Teams Rugby

The Mini/Youth section of Northern Football Club started in 1984 with an under 9 side and over the years it has grown so that today it runs teams from under 7 to under 18 and has a membership of over 300 children.

The Mini/Youth section has always taken pride in the quality of its coaching which has helped two players, David Reece and Dave Walder, win full international caps for England. In addition several boys have represented England at various age group levels. The Mini/Youth section has also provided a steady stream of players for the senior club and last season's first team squad contains eight players who came through the Mini/Youth section.

In the 2004/5 season Northern were crowned county champions at six age groups which was an incredible achievement. Under 7's, 8's, 9's, 10's, 13's and 15's.

The new season commences from September each year. Coaching takes place between 10.30 am and 12 noon each Sunday for all age groups from under 7's to under 16's. New members are welcome at all age levels. Further details will be posted on this site nearer the start of the new season.

Northern and Mini Youth rugby follows the RFU's Continuum. We do not wish to turn away any children but parents should be aware that children aged under 6 are not allowed to play in competitive matches.

To be eligible to join the Mini under 7's squad your child must turn 6 years of age on or before 31 December.
